Renato Silva
Jiu Jitsu Head Coach
Renato is a Brazilian-born 2nd-degree black belt. He started training BJJ back home in 2004 when he was 17 years old. He received his Black Belt from his coach and Southside BJJ team leader Vicente Cavalcanti in 2016.
Currently 3x NZ national champion, and multiple times IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation) medalist, Renato is passionate about BJJ and its lifestyle. With over 20 years of training and competing all over the world and 10 years of coaching kids and adults of all levels, Renato offers loads of experience and a methodical and detail-focused approach to teaching. His goal is to deliver high-level Jiu-Jitsu classes in a friendly and safe environment as well as to have a positive impact on people’s lives, on and off the mat.
