Kids classes
Physical activity is a crucial part of a child’s growth and development. Jiu jitsu in particular offers a great way for children to develop physical skills, mental focus, and self-confidence, while also learning valuable life skills such as discipline, respect and perseverance that can benefit them both on and off the mat.
We have designed our kids programs to be interactive, motivational, challenging, and fun. We create an environment where our students not only learn BJJ but also develop positive behaviours such as discipline, respect, and humility. They will discover how to push themselves to achieve and believe in their individual worth and abilities. And they will have fun!
We currenly offer the following programs for kids:
- Little Ninjas (4-6 yo): Our program for the youngest practitioners introduces the fundamentals of BJJ in a fun and dynamic environment. Through age-appropriate games and activities, children develop body awareness, coordination, balance, and motor skills while also learning the basic principles of BJJ. Outcomes of this program include understanding the academy rules, learning respect to coaches and teammates, improved ability to follow instructions, improved focus and social skills as well as self-confidence.
- Little Samurais (7-9 yo): In this program, children continue to build upon their foundational skills while learning more complex techniques and sequences as well as understanding the rules of the sport. Children in this age group are exposed to grappling-based games, drills and light sparring (rolling). They develop motor skills, discipline, resilience, and confidence as they progress through the curriculum, preparing them for future challenges on and off the mat. Outcomes of this program include improved focus, social skills, fitness and self-confidence.
- BJJ Beginners (10-14 yo): For beginners in the older age group, our program provides a structured introduction to BJJ, focusing on the fundamentals of positions, escapes, and submissions. Children learn valuable self-defense skills and improve their physical fitness in a supportive and encouraging environment. We push our 10 to 14-year-olds to be more disciplined in their training, and accountable for their participation and personal growth. Outcomes of this program include understanding basic concepts and positions of the sport, improved focus, discipline and critical thinking.
- BJJ Advanced - Coloured Belts (8-14 yo): This program is designed for children who have previous experience, have obtained a coloured belt in BJJ and are ready to take their skills to the next level. Children in this program are exposed to more advanced techniques and sequences, drills, positional sparring, and live rolling. Problem-solving, critical thinking, goal setting and competition strategies are emphasized, allowing students to refine their abilities and reach their full potential as martial artists. Outcomes of this program include a deeper understanding of BJJ concepts and techniques, improved fitness, discipline, mental toughness and leadership skills.
